DRAINAGE PROPOSAL NGATEA-PIPIROA area MR C. W. PARFITT’S VIEW A special works rate for the whole of the Ngatea-Pipiroa subdivision of the Hauraki Plains West Drainage Board was advocated by the chairman, Mr €. W. Parfitt, at the last meeting of the board. He suggested that . a planned scheme, allowing for three large outlet drains, running to the sea, away from the roadside, would put the area in a long way better position than it
was at present. The subdivision’s drains were not getting enough freeboard with the drains as they were today. With three large drains there would be a good flow of water all thp time, he said. Mr D. Waite stated that the scheme called for a report from an engineer. Mr T. McLean agreed that the area badly needed such a scheme to improve the drainage. He thought that the area would probably want about five large drains. The meeting decided to investigate the matter further at a special meeting.
