Bridge Being Built At the February meeting of the Coromandel County Councjl, councillor F. H. Purdom reported that after years of striving for money and material, Heenan’s bridge was at last being re-built. He expressed the gratification of farmers and other people concerned, and also his own ■relief that the work was in hand. Valuable Sections Surprise was expressed by a member of the Hamilton Land Valuation Committee at the recent sitting of the commitee in Te Aroha, when in answer to a question he was given the area of a section at Whangamata for which £lOO was asked. The member exclaimed that the price was greater than was being paid for comparable sections in Hamilton City.

Fire Officers Appointed At the February meeting of the Coromandel County Council the county foreman, Mr J. T. Hinchco and councillors A. J. Denize and H. T. Robinson were appointed fire officers in. Coromandel, Colville and Whitianga respectively.” Cancer Campaign Appeal At the February meeting of the Coromandel County Council a letter was received from the Thames • Borough Council, inviting the council to co-operate in the cancer campaign.. The Thames Borough Council, in seeking the Coromandel County Council’s support, advised that it had decided to hold an appeal throughout the month of April and suggested that areas be zoned in the same manner as was used for patriotic appeal purposes. It was proposed by Cr. T. V. Whittle, seconded by Cr. S. Strongman: “That all organisations in the county be circularised, inviting donations.”
