NEW POST OFFICE
COROMANDEL SKETCH PLANS QUESTION OF BUILDING At the February meeting of the Coromandel County Council the clerk, Mr J. H. Lucas, advised that a letter had been received from the Postmaster General to the effect that sketch plans had been prepared for the new post office building at Coromandel, but in view of the many urgent works being carried out he was not able to say when this work would be commenced.
The letter further stated there were 56 applications for telephones on hand to date, involving .20 new lines. Enough cable was in hand for 35 connections and new cable, at a cost of £2500 had been procured. Work would commence when skilled labour was available, but he was unable to say exactly, when this would be.
