FRIENDLY HOUR TENT

WELL ATTENDED MEETINGS / A COMING EVENT ‘j (By E.H.8.) I The Friendly Hour Tent Mission is attracting large attendances, the subjects dealt with at the three meetings last week being varied and instructive and of vital interest to all. On Tuesday, the missioner, Mr L. Taylor, described the work of Everyman’s Hut at Trentham during the five years of war. Mr Taylor was officer-in-charge of the hut which provided recreational amenities for the troops. The work was maintained entirely by voluntary subscriptions from friends, no assistance being asked for from the National Patriotic Fund. Spiritual work was concentrated upon and the changed lives of many men bears conclusive witness to changed hearts through the preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The dangers and remedy of the postwar world were effectively pointed out on Thursday evening by Mr Taylor. The neglect of God by nations professedly Christian was undoubtedly the fundamental cause of the present chaotic situation governing world conditions and the only remedy lay in turning to God and submission to f(is rule. The nearness of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take His redeemed people out of the world was the subject dealt with by Mi* Taylor on Sunday evening and the large audience was gripped with absorbing interest as the Scriptural evidence, the signs and the results of this coming event which will paralyse the world were unfolded. The Rapture of the Church as this prophetic truth is known, is attested to by Christ himself, by the Angels and by the Apostles. The signs of His soon coming are already present and are revealed in society by the ever-present sense of insecurity which exists in communal life, in the visible church by the countless professing Christians who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof, and in the world in general by the prevailing lawlessness and disregard of those principles of honesty and integrity which form the basis of internationalpeace. The result of the Lord’s return for His people will be the immediate removal of all true Christians including those who have died, to be with the Lord for ever. “ I will come again,” said Jesus, “ and receive you to myself.” This promise is only to those who have trusted Him as their Saviour and acknowledged the truth of His resurrection. Those who do not believe or have neglected Him in their lives will be left to face a time of unparalleled tragedy andi catastrophe. Mr Taylor concluded with an exhortation to all to be sure they will share with God’s people in this wonderful soon coming event. —P.B.A.
