WEEDS IN DRAINS

QUESTION OF CONTROL EXPERIMENTS WITH SPRAY The possibility ,of control of weed growth in drains by the use ef a poison spray was discussed at the February meeting of the W i Hauraki United Drainage Board. The opinion was expressed that v if the drains were sprayed with a suitable poison, once or twice a year, the growth in the drains would be greatly retarded and the work of cleaning considerably eased. It was decided to contact the oAeer in charge of the Department of Agriculture, Thames, Mr G. L. Benfield, and ask him if it would be possible for him to conduct experiments in this direction.
