No Ranger At Present Stating that it considered the appointment of a ranger unnecessary at the present time owing to the shortage of wire and material for fences, the Coroglen-Whenuakite branch of the Federated Farmers recently wrote to the Coromandel County Council. It was stated that the council did not intend to appoint a ranger at the present time.

Temporary Bridge Following result of a letter from the Coroglen-Whenuakite branch of the Federated Farmers it was stated at the May meeting of the Coromandel County Council that a temporary bridge would be constructed at the long filling on the Purangi road.

Coromandel Rest Room

That the rest room at Coromandel required renovation was reported at the last meeting of the Coromandel County Council by Cr. S. Strongman. He suggested that it be relined with hard board and then repainted. The matter was left in the hands of the works committee with power to act.

Church Anniversary An invitation was extended to members of the Coromandel County Council to attend the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Coromandel Presbyterian Church. The chairman, Mr E. Deeble, undertook to represent the council and any other councillors who were able would also attend.

Mercury, Bay Poundkeeper The urgency of appointing a ranger at Mercury Bay was stressed in a letter to the Coromandel County Council from the Mercury Bay Chamber of Commerce. Cr. H. T. Robinson said that the cattle pen on the wharf could be used as a temporary pound and suggested that Mr Bowman be approached, to ascertain whether or not he would act as poundkeeper.

State Highways

A letter congratulating the Coromandel County Council on its recent State highway declaration and also urging the council to endeavour to get the Kaimarama-Mercury Bay hospital road taken over as a State highway was received by the' council from the' Mercury Bay Chamber of Commerce. A request for six additional street lights for Mercury Bay from the Mercury Bay Chamber of Commerce was refused at the May meeting of the Coromandel County Council, as there was a resolution on the books that no additional lights were to be put in at present. Information Sought

Evidence was being gathered from experienced farmers in conjunction with the federated farmers with regard to the expected visit of the Royal Sheep Committee, stated Mr Ball in his report presented to the last meeting of the Coromandel Chamber of Commerce. The information was being compiled in order of reference with a view to placing it before the commission. Disused Sections Several points had been cleared up in regard to the question of disused sections stated Mr A. S. Tonkin at the May meeting of the Coromandel Chamber of Commerce. He had recently visited the Lands and Survey Department office in Auckland, said Mr Tonkin, and had been in personal contact with the chief surveyor and it was now possible for the committee to continue its activities with a view to getting further practical data to help in the gathering of information required for legislation purposes.
