PRODUCTION OF MILK BRITISH FRIESIAN COW 45,081 LB. OF MILK IN YEAR On March 1, 1948, Mr and Mrs K. A. Pierson, of Moortown Farm, Ringwood, Hants, entertained visitors in celebration of the completion of the record breaking lactation by their pedigree British Friesian, “ Bridge Birch.”

“Bridge Birch ’’’ broke the world record, previously held by the American cow, “ Carnation Ormsby Fayne,” which stood at 41,943 fat in a year, fon January 26. Up to March 1 “ Bridge Birch ” had brought her production figure to 45,081 lb. fat in 365 days, and the value of this milk was £620.

On May 1, 1947. “ Bridge Birch ” had an officially recorded production of 134 lb. of milk, which progressively increased until on May 4 it reached 1554 lb., heating the previous best comparative figure of 1491 lb., a record that has stood since 1933. This world record breaking milk producer was bred by Mr A. C. Willy, Bridge Farm, South Petherton, Somerset, and sold as a two-year-old to Mr Pierson in 1944.
