MONTHLY MEETING HELD

RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS

The monthly meeting of the Pipiroa Women’s Institute was held in the hall on May 12, Mrs Powell presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with the ode and the institute prayer. The motto, “Humility the sweet root, from which all virtues shoot,” was given by Mrs Keane.

Arrangements for the Paddy’s market in aid of institute funds were finalised. The nominations for Dominion piesident and Dominion executive were discussed at length and the delegate instructed how to vote. Resolutions to be brought forward at the meeting in Wellington were discussed at the April meeting and again at the May meeting- and it was unanimously decided that it be left to the delegate to use her discretion in voting, a former delegate pointing out, that oftimes the mover of a resolution brought forth reasons foi the resolution, that institutes may have ever-looked. It was proposed that £4 he donated to the Thame-Hauraki Plains District Fcderati m fumis and that l p s le donated to the hospital fund. Two large parcels of tinne; foodstuffs are to be packed by Mrs Johnson for Britain. Members contributed to the fund to buy a spinning wheel for Corso and also brought a small gift towards a parcel for Corso.
