WAITAKARURU WIN
CRAWFORD-WATSOft CUP CRICKET MATCH PLAYED Playing for the Crawford-Watson Cup last week-end the Waitakaruru cricket team defeated Tararu (Thames) by 28 runs. The final score was Waitakaruru 93, Thames 65. Although the Waitakaruru team was too good, it can be said that the Thames batsmen were not up to standard. The only player who made a good score was J. Kerby, who batted well to reach 27 not out. Top score for Waitakaruru wjs made by B. O’Neil, who topped the game with 57.
M. Strange just failed to take his one hundredth wicket for the season, this last game taking his total to 99. The trophy is for competition between the winning teams in the Thames and Hauraki Plains associations.
