RATES REMISSION
HOUSE ON JAMES ESTATE PUBLIC TRUST APPLICATION An application from the Public Trust office for the refund of half the rates on a house owned by the James estate was received by the November meeting of the Coromandel County Council. This is a provision under the Rating Act that if a house is empty for six months or more a remission of half the rates could be applied for. Strong comment was made by councillors in connection with this particular case. The amount of the remission of half the rates was duly authorised by the meeting.■
