MILL ROAD CREEK
PLIGHT OF FIVE SETTLERS TO APPLY FOR FREE GRANT The plight of five settlers on Mill Creek road was brought before the October meeting of the Coromandel County Council. It was reported that one man had not had been able to drive his truck to his place since last May, and it was rapidly deteriorating. A ton of lime had to be separated into .three lots and then it was a heavy load in a dray for a horse. There were settlers in there with children who could not get to school. Or. A. J. Simpson proposed that the council write to the Public Works Department again pointing out the difficulties the settlers were producing under, and also suggested that the particulars of the case be sent to Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P., asking him to see what could be done to obtain a free grant for metalling the road.
