Entertainments — - —— 1 1 — p — — ' " NEVILLE CARLSEN’S REVUE CO. ’ NEVILLE CARLSEN’S REVUE CO. REGENT THEATRE, PAEROA THURSDAY NEXT — OCTOBER 2 VAUDEVILLE VAUDEVILLE ONE NIGHT ONLY ! .. .By. .. NEVILLE CARLSEN’S REVUE CO. 25 ARTISTS ON THE STAGE 25 ARTISTS BALLET — 35 ACTS — CHORUS What is it like you say? . . . Bright lights, happy smiling faces every where,, merry music, a song with a lilt, a song with pathos. Twinkling toes tapping the time to tantalising tunes. . Gay. coloured frocks, a breezy and sometimes droll comedian dispensing clean, wholesome humour. . Changing, ever-changing scenes —the magician, the charming girl ventriloquist and her pal Joe, the svelte lithsome-bodied lassie, performing “ impossible ” acrobatics; a hand balancer and trick cyclist, thrillingly daring, a golden voiced girl singing the sweet songs we all love so well; a most sagacious performing dog, a juggler, then more and more good music and singing; more twinkling’ toes, more smiling lassies in their synchronal gay and colourful frocks; the clever and definitely humorous sketches “ wedged ” into this whirl of gaiety. On and. on goes the show to culminate in a Grande Ensemble—that is a show by Neville Carlsen’s Revue Company, and that is what will be offering at the Regent Theatre, Paeroa, next Thursday night, October 2. But again and again superlatives have been used to extol stage shows, so let us quote what the newspapers have said of Neville Carlsen’s Revue Co., viz.: “ Wealth of talent,” N.Z. Herald. “ The bright and varied programme „ was received with sustained applause,” the Auckland Star. “ The audience demanded encores of every performer,” N.Z. Herald. “ Some fine, shows have been staged by Neville Carlsen and his revue company, but few have excelled last evening’s show which was packed to the doors, hundreds being unable to gain admission,” Auckland Star. “ The show went with a swing—a lengthy programme hfeld the full interest of the audience throughout with all the necessary ingredients for a vaudeville show presented before a packed house,” Waikato Times, Hamilton. “ Playing to a capacity Louse produced thrilling vaudeville,” Thames Star. Then there is this Herald report about a soldiers’ camp show by the company. “The reception was most enthusiastic, the audience cheering the performance.” Be it a show at a hospital, an orphanage, or the grandest theatres, Neville Carlsen’s Revue Company always gives of its best Here is the cast: Jack Carlsen, singer, dancer, versatile artist; Zenda, acrobatic contortionist; Lillias Coad, a sweet natural singer; Claude Sloane, master magician; Lucille, and her performing dogs ; Lyndon Peoples, a bariton from J. C. Williamson’s “Wildflower” show; Frances Carlsen, character actress; Verna Coad, cute comedienne; Ventrix, a charming girl ventriloquist; Joan Griffin, novelty dancer; Jock McKay, international Scottish comedian; May Donaldson, a popular singer of popular songs; Biko, a trick cyclist, balancer, acrobatic clown, providing many thrills and many laughs; Toni Savage, girl piano accordianiste„plus personality; Jose Rice, another sweet singer; Wee Pat Harford, terpsichorean expert; Shirley Sullivan, in Carmen Miranda impersonations and rapid-fire dances; J ack Carleton, maestro and master pianist, with a sensational “ blind ” playing act. And here we must consider that advertising space is at a premium these days, and just run on with the names of the other just-as-good artists: Maureen Jenkins, Frank McAteer, Erin Everson, Harry Cairns, Audrey Mack, Sybil Mack, Will Fuller, Tom Scott and Neville Carlsen himself. We are happy to say that the comradeship of the company is such that they won’t mind being “ just mentioned,” for, like the All Blacks, they believe in combined play, and they have a cause at heart. Enthusiasm is mounting ’ So Reserve Now at the Regent, Paeroa. Prices: ss, 4s, 3s, children Is 6d all parts. NEVILLE CARLSEN’S REVUE, REGENT THEATRE, THURSDAY NEXT, 8 P.M.
