PAEROA WAR MEMORIAL DETAILS DISCUSSED COMMITTEE MEETS ARCHITECT Members of the Paeroa and District War Memorial Fund Committee met on Wednesday night to discuss with Messrs E. G. Ferriday and R. Thorpe of the firm engaged to design, the memorial, the sketch plan that had been forwarded to the committee. The committee had been waiting for some concrete scheme to work on, Mr Edwin Edwards, the chairman, stated, and it was desired to give the architect the committee’s views on points that would increase the amenities, and

to give him suggestions for alterations and improvements. > The architect, Mr Thorpe, said that the drawing that he had given the committee was merely a preliminary sketch plan and that if it had been to the complete satisfaction of the committee it would have been only by chance. He had expected that there would be alterations required. The committee made several suggestions for alterations to Mr Thorpe, which he was to include in his next plan. Mr Edwards stated that the committee Should ask Mr Thorpe to incorporate the instructions of the committee in his plan and then it could be forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs to ascertain whether it would" qualify for the subsidy. If the scheme met with the approval of the Department of Internal Affairs then the plan could be presented to a , public meeting. The architect is now to draw another plan which will be forwarded to the committee in the near future.
