MEMORIAL PARK

SPORTS AREA AT WHITIANGA PERMISSION TO DIG DRAIN MM' At the .September meeting of the Coromandel County Council a letter was received from the Lyon Memorial Park Committee at Whitianga asking permission to dig a drain alongside the road, and to remove part of fence and fill in and level off an old watercourse. Cr. R. A. Simpson said that the suggested activities would mean that Whitianga would then have its own sports and playiing area. For many years the football matches had been played in a paddock lent by courtesy of Mr H. Robinson. It was proposed by Cr. Simpson; and seconded by Cr. F. H. Purdom that the permission asked be granted to the park committee subject to the work being done to the satisfaction of the county foreman.
