NOW CLOSED

COROMANDEL CANNERIES SHORTAGE OF GLASS JARS The shortage of white glass bottles has caused the temporary closing down of one of the Coromandel mussel canneries. In fact, through shortage in different lines, both canneries have been closed for some weeks past. This is a heavy and direct loss to Coromandel, for the wages paid out were over £250 a week, besides other payments for mussels, goods, carriers and shippers. The prospect for any activities in these works for the rest of this year are not at all bright.
