SPRING BLOOMS

ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW TURUA METHODIST CHURCH I VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION A very successful function was held in the Turua Public Hall recently ■when the annual Methodist spring flower show was held. The success was due to an energetic band of Turua workers with Miss 0. G. Baker as secretary and having the assistance of the Ngatea Methodist ladies. With the unsettled state of the weather, it was not to be expected that the entries would be very strong. Yet in some classes there were good specimens before the judges and in only one or two classes were there no entries. The flowers were well set out on raised stands down the centre of the hall. The various stalls which were covered with material and produce and sweets, did a roaring trade. There were several competitions to test the skill of the entrants and all went to'make a pleasant afternoon.
