FAREWELL PARTY

WAIKINO POSTMISTRESS PRESENTATIONS MADE Many local and district residents gathered at the reception room in the Waikino Motel recently to bid farewell to Miss Una Douglas, of Ngatea, who is leaving the district. Miss Douglas has been in charge of the Waikino post office since July, 1946, and is now on transfer to the chief post office, Auckland. Reference to her work in the Waikino office and the happy relations with the public at all times were made by Mrs Len Phillips and Mr W. Law, of Waitekauri. Pianoforte items were rendered by Misses Jean and Lennice Phillips, of Waihi. Mr J. Rilley, on behalf of the local and district residents, presented Miss Douglas with a fountain pen and several pieces of crystalware. Replying, Miss Douglas emphasised the happy term of her office in Waikino and the co-operation she had received from everyone. Good wishes were extended by all present after partaking of afternoon tea, the function closed with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.” In the evening Miss Douglas and numerous friends were entertained by Mr and Mrs A. Moule*at their residence.
