ANNUAL MEETING HELD

MERCURY BAY TENNIS CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the MercuryBay Tennis Club was held at Mr J. D. Jackman’s residence, Whitianga, recently. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr J. D. Jackman; secretary, Miss Betty Simpson; treasurer, Mirs Fred Lee; vice-presidents, Messrs L. R. Dale, G. Ross, W. Henry, C. Peachey, Clinton Smith, W. Lowe, A. J. T. Simpson, R. S. Bryce, R. A. Simpson, C. H. M. Simpson, and L. E. Moore; club captain, Mr F. Don'aghy; vice-captain, Mr W. Oxley; committee, Mrs Russell, Mrs L. V. Smith, Mrs T. Oxley, Mrs Troughear; Messrs F. Donaghy, W. Oxley, J. Simpson, B. Troughear, C. Simpson, R. Simpson, and Miss Betty Oxley. It was decided that the subscription this year should be men 26/- and ladies £1 and all balls are to be supplied by- the club. It was decided that the club’s opening day should be October 4. Mr J. Simpson undertook to look over the grounds and get labour to do the necessary repairs. During a storm the concrete posts on the road frontage to the courts were snapped off and the whole fence will need repairs.
