KUAOTUNU RIDING ELECTION MR W. P. THOMPSON LEADING Progress results of the local body election held in the Kuaotunu riding of the Coromandel county yesterday are:—• W. P. Thompson, 25 votes ' S. H. Le Roy-Dyson, 23 votes The final result of the election will not be known until the week- ■ end as there are a number of declaration votes still to be counted which could affect the result. from a ruck and beating several opponents passed to Bouskill who crossed wide out. Mareroa led his forwards in a fine rush but Coromandel covered and the attack failed when Sydall and Beech held Mareroa up skort of the line. Coromandel cleared and the score at halftime was: Coromandel 3 Kennedy’s Bay nil ■ After the interval the Bay, with the wind behind them attacked strongly and held a territorial advantage throughout the spell but good defence by Coromandel prevented them crossing although Mareroa and /A. Hale were .grounded' inches from the line. The home forwards retaliated and the backs joined in the attack. M. Denize made a good run but was tackled solidly and pushed out near the corner flag. The Bay cleared and 1 following on took play to Coromandel territory where B. Hale snapped up and scored near the posts but G. Thwaites failed

Thwaites and -the Mareroa brothers were prominent in the forwards. For Coromandel Quist and Denize were the best of the backs while Barry, Bouskill, Beech and Joll took the eye in the forwards.
