SUCCESSFUL FAIR
MERCURY BAY BROWNIES
OVER £2O RAISED FOR FUNDS
The Whitianga brownie pack held a most successful fair on the lawn at Mrs Heald’s residence recently. An amazing quantity and assortment of goods was offered for sale and a delightful afternoon tea, supplied by the mothers, was served by the ladies of the committee. The soft drink bar did good business and dips were popular.
Entries in the competitions were remarkably good and they were later sold on the stall. Results were:— Brownies: Kettle holder, Harlean Lowe 1, June Armstrong 2; guides: oven cloth, Adele Smith 1, Barbara Smith 2. Takings amounted to over £2O and the brown owl and the committee are to be congratulated on the great success of the day. Members of the committee are district commissioner, Mrs K. Harrison: brown owl, Miss L. Robinson, committee, Mrs R. &■• Smith; secretaiy, Mrs R. Sewell, Mrs L. V. Smith, Mrs Heald, Mrs W. Harsant, Mrs A. J. T. Simpson, Mrs W Oxley, Mrs A. Chaney.
