6¾ OUNCE EGG
LAID BY WHITE LEGHORN PRODUCED ON OMAHU FARM An extraordinarily large egg has been laid by a hen owned by Mrs J. Gamble, of Omahu. The hen, a white leghorn, has been running with the rest of her poultry on Mrs Gamble’s farm. If not unique the egg must be approaching a record as it weighs ounces. Earlier this year Mrs Gamble put a double yolk egg under a bantam hen, which was sitting on a guinea fowl egg. The double yolk egg produced two chicks, one of which lived for four days and the other developed into a healthy pullet.
