FEDERATION MEETING

ARRANGEMENTS FOR DISTRICT At the August meeting of the Thames-Hauraki Plains District Federation of the Women’s Institute, Mrs Pinnock presided over the following members: Mesdames Lithgow, Brady, Marceau, Crawford, Inglis, Ralph and Scott. Mrs Pinnock, accompanied by Mrs Neil of Maramarua, will attend the Dominion coun-cil-meeting at Wellington. Mrs Marceau is to visit Tairua on August 14 to demonstrate handcraft. She will also take material to help this new Institute in the nature of competitions, sketches, and articles for the sales table. Information received from Corso stated that the toys made by Institute members for the Anbury Cup competition had been despatched. Mrs McKaiLGeddes, Auckland, has consented to tour the federation from September 16 to September 27. An itinerary has been planned and it is hoped that all institutes will avail themselves of this opportunity.

Plans are under way for a federation concert at Waikino, at an early date. As the council meeting date, October 22, draws near, preparations are almost complete for a happy meeting day, to be followed by a social and dance in the fire brigade hall. For the competition table a set of boy’s clothes or girl’s clothes, there will be a trophy for the best of each. set. The proceeds from this competition will be sent to England.
