WAITAKARURU MEETING RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS The June meeting of the Waitakaruru Women’s Institute was very weil attended, and. the president, Mrs Wallace, was in the chair. It was reported that the card evenings that had been held at Mrs Jesen’s had been quite popular. As it was considered a necessity in ■the Waitakaruru township, the Women’s Institute has commenced a fund towards the provision of a rest room for women. Proceeds from the card evenings are to be put towards- the fund. The social part of the afternoon introduced the game of “ Beetles,” and it proved very popular. The winners were Mrs L. Berney and Miss Norma Cole. The cooking competitions were won as follows:—Biscuits, Mrs Allen 1, Mrs Baigent 2, Mrs Allen 3; kumaras, Mrs A. Coxhead 1, Mrs Laing 2, Mrs McClean 3; flowers, Mrs Coxhead 1, Mrs Baigent 2, Mrs Freethey 3.
