DISTRICT FEDERATION DRAMA FESTIVAL DATE MiR'S LONIGMUIR-SMITH A GUEST The monthly executive meeting of the Thames-Hauraki Plains District Federation of Women’s Institutes was held in St. James’ Hall, Thames, on May 3. Miss A. E. J. Paul presided, there being present Mesdames Brady (honorary secretary), Lithgow (honorary treasurer), Turton, Neil, Johnson, Pacey, Inglis, Ralph and Scott. It was decided that the Drama Festival be held in King’s Theatre, Thames, on July 4. Mr F. Broad, of Auckland, was appointed adjudicator. Mi's Gibson, dressmaker, is commencing classes’ in most of the institutes in the Federation, on May 7.

A pleasant little interlude to the meeting was the arrival of Mrs Long-muir-'Smith as guest for ■ luncheon. Miss Paul, in asking Mrs Smith to accept a small gift from the executive members, a bouquet of roses on her own behalf and a Victorian posy on behalf of the members, spoke in glowing terms of Mrs Smith’s valuable assistance while a member. One and all expressed good wishes for a speedy return to good health and said how much she would be missed at the meetings.

Mrs Longmuir-Smith in replying expressed thanks for the lovelyi gift and the flowers. She said that anything she had 'ever done for the institutes was a labour of love and that the institute work was one of her. dearest possessions.
