PAEROA FAREWELL

TWO MEMBERS OF J FORCE PRESENTATIONS MADE EVENING IN THE CIVIC HALL The Civic Ballroom, Paeroa, was the scene of much gaiety recently, the occasion being the party given by Mr and Mrs A. Sewell to farewell their son Mr Albert Sewell and nephew Mr Tony Martin who are leaving shortly for Japan with the J Force.

Mr Eddie McCullough, of Matamata, and Mrs Ken Beale, of Paeroa, supplied excellent music. Mr McCullough senr. was a capable M.C. Mr Fred Chaney and Mr John Mathieson were in charge of refreshments and were well patronised. The Misses Desinee Sewell and Janet Gerrand attired as an Irish girl and boy gave a tap dance which was well received; A very charming Tamborine dance by Misses Elvie Tilselj’ and Colleen Mathieson was very much appreciated. Miss Lillian Walls sang some delightful numbers in her usual siweet and charming manner. Little 'Glennis and Sonja Beale sang “'A Little On the Lonely Side” which was also very much appreciated. dance by Albie 'Sewell, Les Cooper, Frank Martin, Carrol Gerrand and Gordon Chaney. The boys wore ballet frocks of pastel shades with silver- stars in their hair.

A snowball dance caused' considerable hilarity amongst both old and young alike all pelting each other with balls of cotton wool.

Mr Albert Sewell and Tony Martin were the recipients of several nice gifts. The presentations- were made by Mr Edgar Streat who spoke on behalf of the parents and. the boys. Both suitably replied after which all the J Force members present marched onto the stage and were all wished “bon voyage,” the music struck up “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” A very hearty supper was partaken of to which everyone did justice.
