21 ST ANNUAL MEETING

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

OOMINIG-'OiF-AGE CELEB RATION

The twenty-first annual meeting of the Turua branch of the Plunket Society, held in the Turua Buildings, was presided over by Mrs H. Hicks, and took the form of a social afternoon. To celebrate the twenty-first annual meeting the committee invited past committee members to an afternoon tea party.

■Mrs Hi'cks- welcomed all present and hoped that during the coming year all would give the society their whole hearted support, especially financial support as the last year had been rather a difficult one.

The president’s report, the nurses’ report and the balance sheet were presented and adopted-. ' Election of officers:—-President: Mrs T. Lowe; vice president: Mrs H. Hicks; secretary and treasurer: Mrs T. Hamerton; committee: Mesdames Peterson, R. Baker, A. Baker, A. ■Green, A. H. Sutton, R. Madgwick, J. Mitchell, 'W. Maunder, R. Harrison, W. Troughton. Mrs Hicks thanked the committee for their past support and hoped that they would carry on in the same spirit. -While afternoon tea was being prepared Mrs P. Henry played a pianoforte solo and Mrs- Fox sang a solo. Both items were much appreciated by those present.

During afternoon tea a beautiful iced cake, adorned with 2'l candles, made by Mrs T. Lowe was cut. The candles were lit by Mrs F. Bell the ’ oldest member present and were blown out by Mrs Henry a past president and secretary.

Mrs Lowe thanked the ladies for coming and for the interest shown in the .Plunket work and hoped: that all had enjoyed the afternoon. •Mrs Henry responding on behalf of the visitors’ thanked the committee members for their invitation stating that it was especially interesting to herself as she had been one of the original members and had actually attended the first Plunket meeting held in Turua when Dr Derrick, of Thames, visited Turua for the purpose of forming a branch of the Plunket Society. The .first president had been Mrs Stanley Bagnall and the secretary, Mrs Luke.

(Shoulder sprays were presented by the president to Mrs Hicks, Mrs Hamerton, Mrs Sell, Mrs Henry, Mrs Moffatt, Mbs Hamilton, Mrs Fox. Those present were: —Mesdames Hicks, Bell, Henry, Hamerton, 6.
