INTERESTING DEBATE
MARAMARUA INSTITUTE MIONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Mara-marua-Kopuku Women’s Institute was held recently in the Maramarua Hall. Mrs -Symes presided over a good attended meeting. (Business was thoroughly dealt with and discussions on ways of helping Britain in her food problems brought forth many suggestions. An interesting report was given by Mrs .Searle on a recent delegate’s meeting held at 'Thames. Mrs Hare was congratulated on her fine effort of winning the tatting competition. Birthday posies were presented to Mrs Fisher, Mrs Findlayson, Mrs Findlay, Mirs . Manning, Mrs 'Smith, Mbs Searle, Mrs Steed, Mrs Miller, Mrs Lawson and Miss Liocke.
A very amusing debate took place on ‘‘Should Boys Do Housework.” Mrs Baldwin and Miss D. McWatt took the affirmative while Mrs Neil and Miss Neil took the negative. The judges awarded their decision to the affirmative by one point.
(During the afternoon members assisted Mrs- Findlayson in the making of -several wreaths to be layed on the cenotaph on Anzac Day. iC omp e t i tions resulted: —-Best Bloom: Mrs Findlayson 1, Mbs Symes 2. Mbs- Bond 3.
The members then concluded the afternoon with a most enjoyable afternoon tea.
