SHOULD GET GRATUITY
WANTED FOR LAND GIRLS •FARIMERiS’ UNION REQUEST ’That girls of the Land Army be paid gratuity to place them on an equal footing with women in othor services was a remit from the Coro-glen-Whenuakite branch of the Farmers’ Union, discussed at the quarterly conference of the Northern Thames sub provincial executive of the union held in Thames recently. Mr K. Hamilton (IWhenuakite) said it was not right that one section of the girls should! receive gratuity while the land girls are missed out. This definitely was not fair. Mr C. Strong (Kerepeehi) seconded the remit. The chairman, Mi* S. E. Hall said the remit had been taken up in other parts and he agreed that it was a step in the right direction. Mr E. Jamieson (Matatoki) spoke in- support of the remit which was carried unanimously.
