ILLUSIONIST
“THE AMAZING MR ROOKLYN” VAUDEVILLE AT REGENT Theatregoers are promised something in the nature of sensational entertainment on Thursday next, May 9, at the Regent Theatre when the internationally known illusionist and manipulator “The Amazing Mr Rooklyn” makes his first appearance here, supported my a select team of Australian vaudeville specialties. The acts are all attractively mounted, and his attentions to stage decoration being much more studied than usual, and his practice of introducing each interlude with appropriate vocal and ballet effects is a delightful innovation. One of the sensations of the entertainment is the illusion Sawing Through a Lady” in "which a regulation four feet circular is used without covering of any kind; this has never been done here before, and is indeed an ingenious trick. Among the vaudeville attractions worthy of special mention is Ted James, aptly described as a truly Australian Comedian, and his comedy sketch ‘ Sam’s the Man” in association with Florence Gold, is said to be a real gem of comedy. Box plans are bow open at Regent Theatre where early booking is strongly recommended.
