NETHERTON INSTITUTE TRIBUTE TO MRS MATTHEWS The April meeting of the Netherton Women’s Institute was held on Apri’ 11. in the Netherton Hall. Mrs H. Reid presided—owing to Mrs Maude’s absence —and opened the meeting with the Institute prayer. After the business was concluded Mrs Sarjant gave an account of the federation conference held in Thames. Two minutes’ silence was held out of respect to the late Mrs W. J. Matthews, who had been a member of the Institute from its early days. ‘Competitions resulted: Four best scones, Mrs S. Reid and Mrs G. Sar jant tied for first with Mrs J. Hayes 3; best bloom, Mrs 0. Hayes 1, Mrs J. Hayes 2. The meeting concluded with the welcoming of two new members.
