TENNIS BALL
WAITAKARURU CLUB HALL DECIO RATION'S A FEATURE 'Waitakaruru is becoming renowned at all its functions for the original decorations which, under the leadership of Mrs A. McLean make the somewhat sombre colourings' of the Waitakaruru Hall into a bright and artistic setting for the dancers. On the occasion of the tennis club’s ball —the atmosphere was one which left no doubt as to what club was responsible. (Placed; at intervals around the hall were huge tennis rackets and balls-, while in front of the stage was a tennis net with smaller rackets and balls along the front. Te Aroha Slwing Stars supplied the music and -Mr Eric iDuffin acted- as MJC. In a modem dancing competition the winners were Miss J'oy Hinton and. Mr B. Otter, and the monte carlo was won by Miss N. Adams and Mr B. Otter. The president of the club, Mr W. Heigh, thanked those present for their support and said that the- club would find good use from the profits of the dance. He also expressed the thanks of the club to Mr and Mrs. A. McClean for their kindness to the club, particularly the gift of two cups, which are still to be played for.
