RUGBY IN PAEROA
MEETING OF THE UNION CHALLENGE FOR PEACE CUP A meeting of the management committee of the 'Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the pavilion of the Paeroa Domain on Monday night, Mr B. Kelly presiding. Others present were Messrs H. Grant, F. Craig, C. Ricketts-, E. Morgan, A. H. Cole, V. Alley, R. Todd, L.' Vercoe, E. Short, A. Treanor, R. Harris, J. 'Sinnett, K. 'Fitzhenry, A. G. Parsons and the secretary, Mr A. Bradburn. An apology for absence was received for Mr W. F. F. Faber.
A challenge was issued to the Morrinsville Rugby Union for the Peace Cup. A challenge was issued to- the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union for the junior challenge cup, the Johnston Cup. The secretary reported that he had written to Matamata, Pukekohe, Mor-rins-ville and Waiuku inviting senior, junior and third grade team's to visit Paeroa.
An invitation for the Ponsonby, Otahuhu and Eden clubs, to send teams to 'Paeroa has been forwarded through the Auckland Rugby Union stated the secretary.
The secretary reported that he had written to the 'Paeroa Plunket Society advising that at the end of the season the union intended to set aside a day for the benefit of the society.
Considerable discussion took place regarding payments made to injured players from the Insurance Fund, the opinion bein'g expressed that increases were desirable. A committee comprising Messrs R. iS. Nicol and R. I/. Darley, the chairman of the union, Mr W. F. F. Faber, and delegates from all the clubs, Messrs Alley, Harris, Treanor, Morgan; and Sinnett was appointed to investigate the matter and report back to the union. The following selectors were apjunior: Mi’ A. A. McCollum; third pointed:—Senior: Mr C. C. Webb; grade: Mr J. Jensen.
