RUGBY IN PAEROA

UNION’S ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS MR W. F. F. FABER CHAIRMAN The annual meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held’ in the Presbyteiian Hall last week, the chairman of the management committee, Mt D. G. McMillar, presiding over a fair attendance of players and supporters. An apology for absence Was received from the president, His Worship the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards.

The annual report (which will be published in full in a later issue) and balance sheet showed that the union had experienced a good season last year inspite of the difficult conditions ruling.

The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr J. W. Silcock; president, His Worship the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards; vice-presidents', Messrs D. G. M'clMillan, C. N. O'Loughlin, E. Daulton, P. T. Speechley, H. M. Shaw, E. P. Fathers, C. C. Webb, J. Craig, J. J. Polond', W. Bain, G. Lewis and T. Gregson; management committee, Messrs R. Todd, W. F. F. Faber, S. Gloyn, A. Cole, K. Fitzhenry, L. Vercoe, V. Alley, C. Ricketts; secretary, Mr A. Bradburn; treasurer, Mr A. G, Parsons.

Appreciation of the work done by Messrs G. Avery, G. Masters', C. Pascoe, J. Hide, K. Dean and R. L. Darley retiring committee, was expressed by the chairman who thanked them for the loyal support they had always given him.

A recommendation that a donation of £2/2/0 to the St. John Ambulance Was carried.

At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr W. F. F. Faber was elected chairman.

Messrs Faber, Kelly and the secretary, Mr A. Bradburn, were appointed delegates to the Thames Valley Rugby Union.

It was decided' that the season open, on Saturday, April 217. The following- friendly matches were arranged: —Seniors: United V West; junior: Hikutaia* Netherton; West and United; the draw to be arranged on the ground.

It was decided that all nominations for the union’s competitions close on Apr il 29.
