MISS R. BUCHANAN HONOURED FUNCTION AT MANGATARATA A very large crowd 1 gathered at the Mangatarata School for the purpose of farewelling Miss Ruth Buchanan who is going to Hamilton to take up nursing and also to welcome two local boys, L.-Cpl. Ivan Main and PilotOfficer Bernie Leonard, both of whom received a warm welcome by the people with loud applause andi musical honours.

Mr Raynor, in presenting Miss Buchanan with a small gift, wished her every success in her new career. Miss Buchanan suitably responded and was then given a handsome shoulder spray and was accorded musical honours'.

'Dance music was supplied 1 by Messrs Paton and W. Hegh. 'Extras by Miss I. Marshair and Mrs A. Henderson. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr E. Revell and Miss N. MaoLennan. A voca'l duet was rendered by Mrs Flynn and Miss M. Flynn. A pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
