BRIGHT DANCE

NEW YEAR’S EVE AT WHAREPOA TRULY CARNIVAL SPIRIT A particularly bright dance was held) in the Wharepoa Hall on New Year’s Eve under the auspices of the Wharepoa Women’s Institute, when besides local residents, many visitors were present from surrounding districts.

Popular music was rendered by the Rhythm Trio, and Mr E. Bax was an excellent MjC., providing the very large crowd with a fine variety of novelty dances and fun of every kind. As the New Year was nearing Mr Bax addressed the gathering and said it was with glad hearts that all could celebrate the coming year without the dread! of war.

At the stroke of twelve a truly carnival spirit prevailed, the New Year being l issued in which cheering, singbeing issue in with cheering', singings. Quantites of confetti was thrown about and this, together with the bright paper caps worn by everyone created a very gay and pretty scene. Finally all joined hands' and sang "Auld! 'Lang Syne.” A dainty supper was served' and fun and l dancing continued! until a very late hour. Seen among the many present were:—
