FIRE IN PAEROA
BLAZE IN FACTORY LITTLE DAMAGE DONE GOOD WORK BY THE BRIGADE A particularly good save was made by the Paeroa Fire Brigade on Tuesday afternoon when a fire broke out in the IColton Glove Co’s. factory in Normanby road, Paeroa. The fire started in the front wall, the blaze quickly spreading up inside the inner and outer walls into the ceiling. It had a strong hold before it was noticed. The brigade was quickly on the scene and soon had the fire under control. The roof was red hot by the time the brigade arrived. No damage was done to the inside of the factory although the machines, etc., were removed as a precaution. Water, soot and smoke caused some trouble.
The roof of the building suffered' the most damage, a number of sheets of iron being ruined. The building which is owned by Mrs C. Clune, of Paeroa is insured.
