HAMILTON—COWAN

CEREMONY IN AUCKLAND

The Green Lane Congregational Church, Auckland, was prettily decorated with white flowers, when the marriage took place, on Saturday, October 20, of Miss Muriel Hamilton, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs John Hamilton, Whenuakite, to Mr Francis Cameron Cowan, R.N.Z.A.F., only son of Mr and Mrs F. H. Cowan, Auckland.

The bride who looked really lovely was given away by her father. She wore a charming gown of magnolia satin .at on classical lines, -with a fully-fi.rred skirt which was cut to form a long train. The bride had made the tatted' halo and with it she wore a coronet of fine orange blossom which -held in place her daintily embroidered tulle veil. She carried a lovely bouquet of white roses and' carnations.

The wedding music was played by the church organist and the officiating clergyman was the Rev. G. Jackson. The bridesmaid, Miss Betty Hamilton, sister of the bride, wore an attractive ankle-leflgth frock of primrose georgette with tucked' bodice and full-length flared' skirt. She carried a lovely bouquet of,.roses and ranunculi to tone. The other attendant was little Dorothy Lee, Whitianga, cousin of the bride, as flowergirl, and she wore a pretty shell-pink georgette frock, made on the same lines as the bridesmaid’s and she carried a dainty Victorian'posy to match. Both wore pretty topknots of flowers in theirhair.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Alf Strange. The bride was given a white satin horseshoe of orange blossom by Dorothy Lee before the ceremony. The reception was held at the Parnell Tea Kiosk where over TOO guests had been invited. Mrs John Hamilton in a honey gold suit with black accessories assisted; by Mrs Cowan in a clover suit with navy -accessories, received the guests. Mr James Hamilton, uncle of -the bride, was toastmaster and the usual toasts were honoured), including one to the two grandmothers present, Mrs Elevens and Mrs Cowan, both 82 years of age. t The bride’s travelling suit was of dusky pink with naVy accessories.
