FLOWER SHOW

FUNCTION AT TURUA GOOD DISPLAY OF BLOOMS FUNDS FOR METHODIST CHURCH A very successful flower show was held' in Turua recently in aid of the Methodist Church. There was a good display of blooms, some being of a very high standard. The Rev. G. Cramond' opened the show. In his remarks he thanked all for coming along and especially those who had worked to make the show a success. He referred to the passing of Mrs J. Miller, a well-known and respected identity and asked all present to stand in silence as a mark of respect. Mrs Miller until recent years always judged the cooking section and decorative classes of the show.

The judges were:—Flowers, Mr Aberhart; decorative, Mps Motion; cooking and sewing, Mesdames Sheridan and Bell. The flower entries were received by Mrs Scott and Miss J. Scott while Mi's H. R. Baker received 1 the sewing and cooking entries. The stall-holders were: Cooking, Mesdames R. Baker, A. Heasman and P. Tetley; sewing, Mesdames A. and H. Baker.

The Ngatea Methodist Ladies’ 'Guild had a stall which did good business. The stallholders were Mesdames Cocks, Williamson, Cramond, Brien, Chatterton and O’Brien. Afternoon tea was in the hands of Mesdames Shilton, Green, Scott and Miss J. Scott. Results:— Flowers: Section A Daffodils, 3. —Jack Mules 1, Mrs Madgwick 2.
