PLUNKET AFFAIRS

ANOTHER NURSE AVAILABLE PAEROA COMMITTEE MEET At the quarterly meeting of the Paeroa sub-branch of the Phinket Society held recently, a vote of sympathy was proposed by the president, Mrs C. A. Blackwood, to the relatives of Mrs R. S. Carwen. During the past 17 years Mrs Carden had .been a very keen and active member of the society and her passing was a very great loss to the -branch. Three new members to the committee were duly elected: —Mesdames S. J. Hedge, G. Ruscoe and J. G. Brock. Two resignations were received with regret. Both ladies were leaving the town, Mrs W. J. Cummins and Mrs W. Crompton. Advice was received that there would be a nurse available for the Waihi-'Paeroa district by mid-'Ottober. This advice was received with pleasure by the committee, as the present nurse was trying to carry on, under very difficult conditions. It was felt that if arrangements could be completed immediately to insure a better service for the mothers and babes the public would do all it could to respond to an appeal for increased financial assistance.
