FUNCTION AT MARAMARUA TWO' SOLDIERS HONOURED An enjoyable welcome home dance was held in the Maramarua Hall recently, the guests of honouring being Cpl. A. W. C. Johnston, who served nearly four years in the Middle East, and Pte. B. Leabourne who was a pris-oner-of-war for three and a-half years in both Italy and Germany. On behalf of the residents, Mr S. Holloway, chairman of the Soldiers* Committee, officially welcomed the boys. (Miss G. Maxwell, secretary of the soldiers’ committee, presented Pte. Leabourne’s mother with a beautiful shoulder spray. A Monte Carlo was won by Mr and Mrs 'Crooks, of Island Block. 'Supper was served by members of the Soldiers’ Committee. Harrison’s Orchestra supplied excellent music and Mr D. Neil acted as M.C.
