. WHAREPOA institute meets RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONS The usual’ monthly meeting of the Wharepoa Women’s Institute was very well attended, one new member being welcomed. The president, Mrs G. Bax, presided, the function opening with the reading of the Institute Aspirations. The roll-call for the day was a fiveline limerick on institute affairs. A lengthy discussion took place in connection with arrangements for the birthday celebrations to be held next month. It was finally decided to hold a night birthday and that all members help with the catering. The competitions judged during the day were September and October entries and were as follows:— Best sandwich D’Oyley.—Mrs Henwood 1, Mrs H. Bax 2, Mrs P. Ingley 3. Best butterless sponge.-—Mrs H. Bax l, Mrs F. Bown 2, Mrs P. Ingley 3. Best bloom. —September: Mrs Warrender. October: Mrs G. Bax. A wall competition was won by Mrs F. Bown l . The hostesses for the day were Mesdames W. Cross and G. Henwood,

The meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the Institute Ode and “God Save The King.”
