STOPBANK ALONG FORESHORE OFFERED TO HAURAKI BOARD At the September meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board the chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, said that Mr J. Mearns was importing a dredge and he offered it to the board for use for six months until he needed, o rc for a job up North.
The dredge could be used on the construction of the stopbank around the foreshore. He expressed appreciation of the consideration shown the board by Mr Mearns.
It was agreed to contact the Public Works Department, recommending that the dredge be used on the stopbank construction. The chairman was granted authority to confer with the Public Works Department with power to act.
The opinion was expressed that the use of the dredge would speed up the job and: might result in a saving in cost.
