THIEVES IN PAEROA
MEN’S CLOTHING TAKEN THREE CYCLES STOLEN FATHERS’ HOTEL ENTERED On Saturday night thieves broke into Fathers'’ Hotel, Paeroa, and entering the room occupied by Mr P. LFathers, stole a quantity of clothes. An overcoat, hat and scarf left in Mr Fathers’ room by Mr G. Powell, were also stolen. Mr J. N'ield of Corbett street, reported to the police on Sunday that during Saturday night he had heard prowlers at the front of his house. A front window had been opened and a suitcase lifted out on to the verandah. The thieves were evidently disturbed and made off, leaving the suitcase on the verandah.
Three cycles were stolen, in Paeroa during the week-end. The police are investigating. Three Maori boys who escaped from Hauto Prison camp near Tokaanu recently were seen making towards Paeroa on Saturday. ' Investigations were carried out by the police but they were unable to locate them. Their names are Rata Mikaere, Maurice Rongonui and l John Tukorehu, aged between 20 and 24 years.
