GIFT EVENING

FUNCTION AT NGATEA

MISS DOUGLAS AND MR POOLE

There was a very large attendance of local residents who gathered l recently in the Ngatea Hall for the gift evening to Miss E. Douglas and Mr Bill Poole. ’

■Mr C. H. Waite, speaking on behalf of those present, said Ellie came from ■one of the oldest and most respected families on the Plains. Always quiet in her manner she had won the respect of all those who knew her. Bill, he welcomed home after serving four years overseas and wished them every happiness for their future life. He then called on -the guests of honour to accept the many and 'beautiful gifts.

'Replying on ibehalf of Miss Douglas, Mr W. Poole thanked all those present for the evening especially those who had organised it and made is such a success and also friends for the display of gifts. Musical honours were accorded. Music for dancing was supplied Iby Mrs E. A. Clark of Turua on the piano and Mr A. Whitehead on the' drums. Extras were provided by Mrs> E. Barber and Mr F. E. Hammond.
