WEEKLY LUNCHEON
ROTARY CLUB OF PAEROA AN INTERESTING. DEBATE The weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club of Paeroa was held in the club’s rooms on Wednesday, the president, Mr D. G. McMillan, presiding over a good attendance of members. Visitors present were Messrs G. M. Ruscoe and A. E. Greenslade. A debate between Mr D. Leach (negative) and Mr J. L. Brown (af*' firmative), was held, the subject being: “Assuming that a dispute arises between Great Britain and U.S.A, on a matter of international policy and that the loyalty of" the peoples of the respective countries must place these people in two opposite groups, can friendship organised on Rotary lines offer any help towards the solution of the difficulty?” A vote of thank for the two interesting addresses was proposed by Mr L. Landman and carried by acclamation. TRIBUTE PAID ADDRESS BY MR C. N. O’NEILL A tribute to Mi’ C. N. O’Neill of Paeroa for the excellent address given at the Rotary Conference of New* Zealand held in Auckland recently was paid by the president of the Rotary Club of Paeroa, .Mr D. G. McMillan, at the club’s luncheon on Wed-* nesday. Mr McMillan said he had been veryproud of Mr -O’NeiH and the fine address he had delivered in Auckland and congratulated him on the impression he had made at the confei'ence. The president for New Zealand had stated that the address had shown outstanding ability and had been a compliment to the town of Paeroa.
Other members who also attended! the conference paid a similar' tribute* to the address given by Mr O’Neill.
