USE OF SHED

WHARF AT COROMANDEL SUPPORT FOR CHAIRMAN ATTITUDE OF THE COUNCIL Support for the action of the chairman, Mr E. Deeble, in instructing the clerk, Mr J. H., Lucas, to write to Mr Gundlock terminating his arrangement regarding the use of the shed known as the Tauranga shed was given at the December meeting of the Coromandel County Council. The chairman’s action was endorsed on the resolution of Cr. H. C. Bull seconded by Cr. W. Hamilton. The resolution was the result of Cr. A. J. Notman stating that Mr Gundlock had approached him regarding the letter he had received andi he (Cr. Notman) had tokl him not to do anything about it until the next council meeting.

Mr Deeble explained that in view of the congestion of cargo, particularly wool, etc., in the main shed, which was causing unsatisfactory conditions, he had instructed the clerk to send the letter as stated! to Mr Gundlock. It appeared that the latter was payings 5s per month for the use of part of the shed in question. Cr. Notman overrides my action in telling Mr Gunlock not to do anything, instead of referring to the clerk for explanation. In the interests of everyone, continued Mr Deeble, the council should have the use of the shed. We do not wish to hamper any trading concern, and it will be our job to make provision

for such goods as fishing companies may need. 'Wool andl manure is being stored in the main shed for lack of the use of the other shed.

“I realise my responsibilities and some decisions are given which are not always palatable but I intend to attend to my duties fearlessly and fairly,” said Mr Deeble.
