WELCOME HOME
FUNCTION HELD AT COLVILLE
FOUR SOLDIERS HONOURED
A very successful and' enjoyable evening was’ spent in the Colville Public Hall recently on the occasion of a welcome home tendered to local boys who have returned from overseas l .
Dancing was very much enjoyed’, the music being- supplied by Mrs' A. O. Evans. Mr Ngamane controlled 1 the dancing in his bright and breezy manner and everything went with a swing.
During the evening Mr J. Reddy, chairman of the Colville Patriotic Committee extended to Flight-Sgt. P. Baker and Spr. .Beatson a very warm welcome on behalf of the people of Colville and surrounding districts. He also apologised for the absence of Gnrs. P. McLeod and W. Curtis who were unable to be present.
Flight-Sgt. Baker responded on 'behalf of the other 'boys' andi himself and thanked the people for the very warm welcome tendered' them. It was very gratifying to the mem-
bers of the Colville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union to know the parcels which are sent to all local boys overseas have been so much appreciated. These are despatched every three months and the boys who have returned stated they are received in good order and very much enjoyed. The letters which are received from time to time also give great encouragement to carry' on with this good work. The ladies served a very dainty supper, this bringing a very enjoyable evening to a close.
