VICE VERSA DANCE

FUN IN WHENUAKITE HALL FUNCTION WELL ATTENDED The vice-versa dance, held in the Centennial Hall, Wlienuakite, proved a great success, judlging by the attendance and the number of folk who dressed for the occasion to join in the grand march. Everybody entered into the fun of the show. The girls looked) very smart in their varied attire. The M.C., Miss G. Bruce, in full evening suit carried out her duties very well, the programme going with a swing. Soldiers, sportsmen and swallow tails were well represented. The men in "dainty” evening frocks or sunsuits caused a lot of amusement. The first prize for “gents” was awarded to Mrs : G. Crosby and Mr Merv. George secured first “lady’s” prize. Competition r winners were Mrs Hinds and Mrs Hare. Monte Carlo winners were Miss J. Harsant and .Mrs Hamilton. Spot waltz, Mr J. O’Connor and Mrs A. W. Hodge. Mr W. Hamilton presented a flagfrom the Coromandel County Council, to the Women’s Institute, who had worked so well in getting funds to build: the Whenuakite Hall. Mrs Watt was asked to accept the gift on behalf of her mother, president of the Women’s Institute. The flag is to be hoisted when victory is won. Dance music was supplied by Mrs Rose. Miss V. Hamilton assisted with extras on the piano.

A fair number of visitors attended from the near-by districts. Supper was arranged by the ladies.
