“That it be a recommendation to the Northern Thames. Sub-Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union that the Minister’ of Rehabilitation be asked to appoint a rehabilitation, committee on the Hauraki Plains,” was> a Waitakaruru remit discussed at Tuesday’s meeting in Paeroa of the Northern Thames Sub-provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union.
The remit suggested that in the event of such a committee being approved a returned soldier be appointed as the representative of the Farmers.’ Union.
A similar remit was sent in by the Mangatarata branch.
Mr J. Flynn of Mangatarata said farmers in his district thought as many returned men as possible be on the committee to give the returned servicemen .the best possible treatment.
Mr JL. E. Laing of Waitakaruru seconded the remit.
Mr L. E. Hill of Waitakaruru said the spirit behind the remit was’that every, member of the rehabilitation committee should be a returned serviceman when possible.
After some discussion it was resolved to support the suggestion.
