EIGHT NEW LINES
VALLEY POWER BOARD
ENGINEER’S MONTHLY REPORT
‘Reporting on the area covered by the Thames .Valley Electric Power Board at the October meeting, the engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod, stated that in the whole area eight new service lines and five sub-mains were erected, while 18 other service lines were overhauled.
The poles replaced included 14 35fts. '24 3Ofte., one 25ft. and' nine service line poles. Fifty cross-arms were replaced, while 160 chains of small neutral were removed and, larger section copper installed instead. System Loading
For the five weeks ending the 26th. September the units taken by the board from the P.W.D. were 2.88%, 2:23%, 1.09%, 0.49% and 0.63% above th corresponding weeks of last year. Some of these would have been lower still, but a breakdown in one of the engines at Waitoa factory, and the running of the Lands Department flood pumps at Kerepeehi took a considerable number of units. It seems to suggest now that the metering of •waterheaters is having some effect. Over the past five weeks Thames units have averaged 8.07% increase, while Te Aroha units have averaged a 2.93% decrease. Practically all of the domestic waterheaters have now been metered, as well as 512 of the dairy waterheaters.
